Andrew Berryman
Andrew is the Musical Director of Helston Town Band and brings a wealth of experience from an international career in performance and conducting. Formerly Principal Trombone with the Hallé Orchestra for 20 years, Andrew has since focused on conducting, working with orchestras, big bands, and brass ensembles around the world.
He is currently Musical Director of the NSO Symphony Orchestra in Abu Dhabi, where he has conducted major symphonic works, film concerts, and high-profile events, including the Hans Zimmer Live Tour in Dubai. He also leads the Dubai Opera Big Band and Germany’s Berrytones Big Band.
Andrew has conducted orchestras across Europe and the Middle East, including the London Metropolitan Orchestra at the Barbican, the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina in Italy, and performances for the World Skills Opening Ceremony and Special Olympics. He is also a certified Disney conductor following his work on Frozen Live.
As a passionate educator, he has taught at the Royal Northern College of Music, led international masterclasses, and supported music outreach through organisations like Music for Autism International.
Now based in Cornwall, Andrew is delighted to be part of Helston Town Band, bringing his energy, creativity, and love of music to the local brass band tradition.
